Offline-first mobile tooling
A field-services company
Field crews worked in basements, remote sites, and dead zones. We built an installable PWA that captures audits, photos, and voice notes with zero connectivity and syncs the moment they’re back online.
The challenge
Where it started
Crews lost work constantly. Apps that needed a signal failed the moment they walked into a mechanical room, so techs fell back to paper — which then had to be re-entered at the office, often days later and full of gaps.
The approach
How we built it
- 01
Design offline-first
The app assumes no connection. Everything is captured and stored locally first; the network is treated as a bonus, not a requirement.
- 02
Capture fast
Tap-to-score forms, inline photo capture, and voice notes let a tech finish a full audit in minutes without typing on a phone.
- 03
Sync safely
A conflict-aware sync layer pushes local records when connectivity returns — with zero data loss, even if the app was closed for hours.
The outcome
What changed
Techs finish audits on-site, in dead zones, in one pass. Nothing gets re-entered and nothing gets lost. The office sees results as soon as a crew is back on signal — instead of chasing paper days later.
“It works where nothing else does. The guys stopped carrying clipboards the first week.”
